Synopsis

Part of each edition of Undercurrents is Street News, a video which exhibits all the news the media ignores. This is the second edition of Street News. In 1994, this included protest actions around the country – from the July protests in Twyford Downs for the anti-Criminal Justice Bill, to the protests on the River Thames in October against the £33 billion Trident Missile Programme, to the Disabled activists’ protest outside the Tate Gallery against its policy which allows only allowed six wheelchair users inside at a time. Other protests include the anti-World Bank protest which directly connects to the protest against the Tibet Holiday Inn, which is the biggest foreign currency earner in Tibet supporting the Chinese occupation of the country since 1949. Another protest in July at the London Ministry of Defence stands against the sale of Hawk aircrafts to Indonesia for the genocide in East Timor.
