Synopsis
This extract from a tape from Albany Video, was commissioned by NUPE (National Union of Public Employees) to cover a march in Hyde Park in the mid 1980s, in support of the public sector. Several participants in the march are interviewed with an array of signs displaying ‘NUPE’ and ‘defend the NHS’, there are speeches by several individuals demanding the halt of hospital closures and more money for the NHS. (beginning section missing)
Professionaly shot and edited with soundtrack. Shows marchers going along the Thames, then shows speeches made in Hyde Park, one speaker is recognised as Rodney Blackstaff and mentions Norman Fowler Secretary of State. Closing credits read “A NUPE Educational film by Albany Video”
