Synopsis

The fight to stop a 'bypass' being built through Solsbury Hill, near Bath, which threatens to destroy an ancient Celtic hillfort. Protestors from around the country join locals to defend the hill.

The video consists mostly of footage of direct action and some talking-head interviews with various protestors. We see their organising tactics in which they set up a campaign office in a squatted house that sits in the road’s path, or people squatting on the land. In an intense sequence, we see protestors react to a man, Martin, who has plummeted to the ground from a treehouse after construction workers saw it down while sheriffs watch. Martin was hospitalised for 5 months. The video ends with the statement: “Two local schemes were paused since the protests started. But the Batheston-Swainswick bypass is still being built.”
