Synopsis
Familiar Feelings is a record of an improvisation project with Common Stock Youth Theatre in west London. The group were asked to improvise scenes that encapsulated how they felt about their families at the moment and to describe how their families functioned - focusing on parent-child relationships. Some of these scenes form the first half of the film. The group were then asked to improvise how they imagined their own families would function when they were the parents, focusing on their relationships with their children. The idea behind the project was to explore how childhood experiences shape hopes and expectations of parenthood.
