Jerry Rothwell

Jerry Rothwell is a maker of feature documentaries, who started out working in community video in the 1980s in various locations across the UK. He went on to develop training packages for the innovative youth media project, Hi8us, which was instrumental in devising their ‘First Light’ scheme for funding young people’s filmmaking and went on to help create Channel 4’s Ideas Factory. He then became and still works as a successful maker of feature documentaries, many of which incorporate elements of community-video philosophy and techniques, most noticeably Heavy Load which he made with a group of adults with learning disabilities.
