About LCVA and the project
London Community Video Archive (LCVA) preserves and shares community video, enabling people to engage with the histories, experiences and struggles held within its collections.
Our BFI-funded project, LCVA: Building an Independent and Sustainable Future, will support the organisation’s long-term development through collections work, community engagement, partnership building and new income-generating activity.
The project includes a pilot Friends membership scheme, the Gaps in the Archive initiative, annual Curatorial Fellowships, the Grassroots Archive Moving Image Network (GAMIN), and improvements to the accessibility of our online archive.
About the role
The Project Coordinator will support the delivery of the project, working closely with the Project Director, Curatorial Fellows, trainees, consultants and partners. They will contribute to project coordination, events, archive development, administration and communications.
This is a varied, hands-on role within a small organisation. The Project Director and Project Coordinator will work closely together on practical delivery, with the Project Director providing overall leadership, management and support.
The project is entering a new phase, and detailed working arrangements will develop as the team comes together. The Coordinator will help shape these arrangements, drawing on their skills and experience. Specific responsibilities and priorities will be agreed together and reviewed as the project progresses, within the scope of the role and the paid time available.
There is a budget for training and professional development, with priorities agreed with the Project Director.
What you’ll be working on
The following describes the main areas in which the Coordinator will contribute. The balance of work across these areas will vary over the course of the project. A workplan will be developed with the Project Director when the Coordinator joins, with regular opportunities to review priorities, workload and support needs. There will be scope to take the lead on individual projects, with responsibilities agreed together according to interests, skills and available time, and support from the Project Director.
