AIDS Activist Print and Video: Sunil Gupta and Robert Taylor with Ed Webb Ingall
How did activist print and video serve queer communities in the early years of the AIDS epidemic?
Join us for an afternoon conversation with artists Sunil Gupta, Robert Taylor, and Ed Webb-Ingall as they explore the role of activist print and video in those early years.
This period was marked by misinformation and a lack of guidance. In Britain, AIDS education and advertising initiatives were underfunded in the years leading up to and during Section 28, and government education efforts sought only to instil fear.
By sharing works from Queer Britain’s archive and the London Community Video Archive, we explore how artists and activists responded by producing their own informational materials, informing those most at risk and fostering community cohesion during a time of uncertainty.
Your ticket also includes admission to Queer Britain Museum – explore our exhibitions before or after the event.
