London Short Films: Screening at Angel Community Centre
Angel Community Centre invites you to come and watch a selection of short films exploring community & the city, on Wednesday, December 10th.
As part of planned improvement works at Angel Community Centre (ACC) in Edmonton, this pilot screening event will test how film might support community use of the space. The programme brings together films from the London Community Video Archive (LCVA) with contemporary works by Rhea Storr that invite reflection on what we mean by community centre. These films bring to light the often overlooked histories of community organizing; they demonstrate the potential of film to amplify voices and influence societal change. In Storr’s own words, film can be “a surface, a space, a gathering.”
The programme for the evening will be as follows, curated by Phoebe Beckett Chingono (London Community Video Archive; June Givanni PanAfrican Cinema Archive):
Okay Keskidee, Let Me See Inside! (2025)
(Excerpt from) Subjects of State, Labours of Love (2025)
and a selection from the London Community Video Archive (1970s–1980s)
The screening will begin at 7:00PM, following the afternoon family screening of Polar Express.
Popcorn will be provided for free!
This event is organized by Enfield Council's Places & Journeys Team and DK-CM as part of the Shaping Edmonton initiative.
