The BBC TV test card is an iconic visual used for television calibration and signal testing. Introduced in the 1960s, the most famous version features a young girl, known as "Card 123," playing with a toy clown. This test card served multiple purposes, including technical adjustments for broadcast equipment and providing a standard reference for picture quality. It often appeared during off-air periods, allowing viewers to see a stable image. Over the years, various test cards have been used, but the original remains a nostalgic symbol of early television, representing a time when broadcasts were less continuous and more scheduled.
